Ben Larsen is a Portland-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based out of Portland, where he developed a reputation for dynamic performances as the front person for the psychedelic newgrass outfit The Giraffe Dodgers, before transitioning to the beloved acoustic roots group, Crow & The Canyon. Ben Larsen Band marks a powerful point of creative transition, well captured by 2018’s self produced debut album Turn, which shifted the focus to a more eclectic and electric sound, as Larsen and his bandmates expanded their musical palette, incorporating heavy doses of soul and rock & roll. With the 2021 follow up, Drop, these sonic explorations have only progressed as the band brings high energy accompaniment and intricate arrangements to Larsen’s songwriting. A guitarist, composer, mandolinist and fiddler, Larsen is always on the search for a deeper and more genuine understanding and connection to music and listeners.

Portland’s The Bylines exists in a unique musical plane, one at once grounded in the big-band past of jazz/pop performances and rooted in a present realm of intricate and catchy songwriting. The group is equally at home in velvet-curtained jazz halls, large rooms and intimate venues. As lovers of the American Songbook, they cover everything from Cole Porter to Adele, from Peggy Lee to Regina Spektor. As songwriters and alumni of the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project, Reece Marshburn and Marianna Thielen’s original tunes are influenced by the writers and performers that have shaped popular music throughout the last century.You can find The Bylines all over the Northwest playing in jazz clubs, hotels, wine bars, events and galas for local institutions like OMSI and Raphael House. In addition, they have opened for Randy Newman at the Britt Festival, played in venues across the country from Los Angeles to New York City, and worked as entertainers onboard a cruise ship that set sail from Venice, Italy. In August of 2024 they made their debut at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, performing their original show This is What It’s For, as well as participating as street entertainers, serenading the visiting crowds on the Royal Mile.

Combining Maggie Rogers’ cool persona and Elle King’s unapologetic energy, Lynn has created a style and sound that joins the ranks of bold indie powerhouses that came before her. Her most recent single release, “Danny DeVito,” shows Lynn doing what most artists hope to achieve: take her art seriously while still bringing levity into the world.
